Thousand Oaks wildlife control tip of the month:

House Mouse Repellent

There are many types of Thousand Oaks pest control repellents used on mice. To evict mice from the house you may try using natural or store-bought repellents, their methods and effectiveness we will discuss here. Using substances with strong smells are recommended in order to repel mice. If mice‘s senses of smell are affected they lose the ability to search for food and they might be forced to leave. Mint, peppermint and bay leaves may be used. Sprinkling the leaves in the pantries, near windows, doors, cupboards or closets may repel mice due to its smell. It is also suggested to use peppermint oil to annoy mice. Put cotton balls soaked with five drops of peppermint oil in the places where mice are coming to seek for food. However, regarding the size of the mice and their Thousand Oaks animal control species it is almost impossible to know how much of the oil to use in order to repel them.

Chemical scent like naphthalene from mothballs, chemicals from fabric softeners and ammonia are also used to repel mice. However, using any fragrance to repel mice is not very effective. Depending on the amount of mice in the house, there are no explicit instructions how much of the substance will do the work. Also, using Thousand Oaks wildlife removal chemical substances require attention because it may cause health issues for children, pets and even adults at home.

It is also thought that growing a peppermint plants near the entries may deter mice from getting into the house. People suggest growing peppermints near every entrance and near the windows. However, there are no conclusive results that would confirm mice being repelled by these plants.

Electronic repellents now are also widely used in Thousand Oaks animal trapping practice. Electronic devices emit sonic or ultrasonic sound waves, which rodents find annoying. It is thought that mice should be irritated much by the changing sound waves and they should want to leave the premises. However, the fact that mice communicate with high-pitched squeaks denies the effectiveness of electronic sound repellents as mice are not too irritated by these sound waves.

All in all, the Thousand Oaks exterminator repellents do not prove their effectiveness as for mice it is more important to have a safe shelter with food and they are not that annoyed by smells or sounds. Mice will find the repellents and next time they will go in other way. Also, using natural repellents it requires lots of work and attention. Using store-bought repellents are quite expensive, not very much effective and also require attention.
